A plane crashes.
A boy emerges from the woods. He meets another boy. They walk the beach. They talk.
They used to call me "Piggy." As long as you don't tell the others.
The other one is Ralph. He will tell the others.
They find a shell. A conch shell.
Ralph blows the shell.
Other boys arrive.
A group of choir boys arrive. Singing.
Kyrie, Kyrrie eleison.
The first group sides with Ralph.
The choirboys side with the head boy, Jack.
Piggy gathers names.
George.
Sam and Eric.
Ralph.
Douglas.
Robin.
Charles.
Henry.
Maurice.
Robert.
Rupert.
Harold.
Bill.
Roger.
Simon.
Jack.
Jack says, "I ought to be chief. I'm chief corrister and head boy."
Ralph asks, "Who wants Jack to be chief?" They vote. "Who wants me?" They vote.
Ralph wins.
A group emerges. It cannot last long.
Jack leads the choirboys. They become hunters.
Ralph tries to rule the society with order. He calls an assembly. Whoever holds the conch shell may speak. The others listen.
Jack rebels with power and chaos.
Jack goes hunting. He catches a pig.
Ralph sees a plane. Jack lets the fire go out. Ralph cannot signal the plane without a fire. The plane does not see them.
Jack slowly picks off the others until he takes power away from Ralph.
The society deteriorates into anarchy.
Jack splits from Ralph. Jack separates his group from Ralph's group.
They find a dead pilot. They place a board's head on a stake.
They dance in the dark in a frenzy. Kill the beast! Kill the beast!
Simon goes to Jack's camp in the dark. In the dark they think he is the beast. They kill Simon.
They steal Piggy's glasses. Specs, they call them.
Jack tries to restore order. He comes to the others with the conch. He calls an assembly. The others push a boulder off a cliff. They kill Piggy.
Ralph finds himself alone. He hides. They set fire to smoke him out.
Ralph runs out of the jungle. Stumbles onto the sand.
A man stands on the island. An officer of the navy.
He sees boy savages. Painted faces. Spears. Shouting. Ralph at his feet. The jungle on fire.
He cannot believe what he sees.
